Meet Caruso

Hi There and Welcome to Caruso’s Saxophone Tips,

My name is Michael Caruso, the author and creator of this blog.  It is my hope to share with you some of the lessons and experiences that I have learned about playing the saxophone over the years.

A Little About Me

Age wise I’m fairly young.  Currently I’m in my early 20’s.  I spent my life growing up in Utah and loved it.  For me music has always been a part of my life.  Whether it was playing air guitar or making something up on the piano I was constantly making music.  Eventually my parents decided that I should take some piano lessons.  This was my initial introduction to structured music.  Up till that time I just made stuff up and knew nothing about music theory or even how to read it.

I played piano for a few years but eventually gave it up.  This was mostly due to the fact that I didn’t like practicing the music I was given.  It just didn’t speak to me.  I loved music however and once Jr. High School came around I was playing once again.

Jr. High introduced me to the flute and the saxophone.  I initially started on the flute and then later added the tenor saxophone.  It was the saxophone that introduced me to my true love of music, jazz and improvisation.  Once I learned about improvisation I was ecstatic.  I had been doing it for years and didn’t know it.  This is exactly why I loved music.  It was a means to express oneself.   Since then I have never looked back.  I continue to play both the flute and saxophone today, and have taken lessons on both instruments.  Now I’m at a point in my musical career where I feel the desire to share with others thus I created Caruso’s Saxophone Tips.  I’m not the perfect musician, but who is.  All I can say is that when it comes to saxophone playing I have been playing the saxophone for over ten years.  Then you add my flute and piano experience to that and it all adds up.  I feel I have a lot to share and hope that it is helpful for all those growing musicians out there who come across Caruso’s Saxophone Tip’s

My Purpose for Caruso’s Saxophone Tip’s

My main purpose for this blog really is in sharing and helping.  I’ve found that learning a musical instrument such as the saxophone is an amazing journey, but often times we are met with challenges or questions.  Over the years I have done a lot to find answers to the questions and challenges that I faced and I feel that I should share these answers with others thus we have Caruso’s Saxophone Tip’s.

I hope you find my blog helpful and insightful.  If you feel something has really helped you then feel free to add a comment.  Same goes if you feel you have something to contribute.  I want this blog to be a place of learning so feel free to share.  I wish you and all those growing musicians out there the best of luck in your musical journeys.
